Judicial Philosophy

Core beliefs you can count on:

  • Appellate judges should not legislate from the bench, but should apply the law and the Constitution as written.

  • A judge's job is to "call balls and strikes." No matter who the pitcher is and who the batter is, the strike zone should not change.

  • Litigants deserve a level playing field, whether a plaintiff or a defendant.

  • Judges should have a balanced view of the law and should understand the view of trial counsel toward appellate courts.

  • Judges should be experienced representing clients at all levels of our court system.

  • Partisanship should play no role in court decisions.

  • The right to jury trial is one that should be respected and protected.
