Judicial Philosophy
Core beliefs you can count on:
- Appellate judges should not legislate from the bench, but should apply the law and the Constitution as written.
- A judge's job is to "call balls and strikes." No matter who the pitcher is and who the batter is, the strike zone should not change.
- Litigants deserve a level playing field, whether a plaintiff or a defendant.
- Judges should have a balanced view of the law and should understand the view of trial counsel toward appellate courts.
- Judges should be experienced representing clients at all levels of our court system.
- Partisanship should play no role in court decisions.
- The right to jury trial is one that should be respected and protected.
