Dear Friends,

Welcome to my campaign website. I am running for election to the Third Court of Appeals, for the seat currently held by Democratic incumbent Diane Henson.

I believe my election would bring a unique perspective to the Court. Unlike most appellate attorneys, I handle both appeals and civil litigation matters. This mix of cases is intentional. I am as comfortable writing briefs and arguing to appellate courts as I am in a trial courtroom. My trial experience has ingrained in me the view that appellate judges should apply the law as written, should not legislate from the bench, and should possess a sincere respect for the jury system and the decisions of trial courts.

My balanced perspective on the law comes from representing both plaintiffs and defendants, first at a large law firm, Baker Botts, and then in smaller firms such as York, Keller & Field, L.L.P. and now, The Field Law Firm. Whether a plaintiff or a defendant, an individual or a large institution, every litigant deserves fair access to the court system and judges who are fair, balanced, and agenda-free. I will be that type of judge.

Regardless of your political affiliation, I want your support. While I am running as a Republican, I believe politics must not play a role in my decisions as a judge. I am dedicated to old-fashioned hard work and to even-handed justice, qualities that are sorely needed in our judicial system. As a judge, I will make the citizens of the 24 counties that comprise the Third District proud.
